February, 2009 survey of 6-month CD rates

February 21st, 2009 · No Comments

It is time to again spend 15 minutes surveying 6-month CD rates to figure out where to create the CD representing the 5th month of our 6-month emergency fund CD ladder. We try to target a CD anniversary date of the 25th of the month so I need to do the research a few days in advance of that.

ING drops OSA interest rates again!

February 18th, 2009 · 1 Comment

I just got an e-mail indicating that ING Direct has lowered the yield on their Orange Savings Account by about a third of a percent to 1.85% APY. Two shocking things about this to me. First, this is the fourth rate drop since late December, 2008 when the yield was 2.75% APY. And second, this is the lowest rate ING Direct has given since 2001!

ING Direct lowered interest rates yesterday

January 21st, 2009 · 2 Comments

ING Direct lowered their interest rates on a number of bank products yesterday. It hasn’t been all that long from ING’s last rate drop which I wrote about on December 30th, 2008, so I’m guessing this answers my previous question regarding how frequently ING changes its rates. More often, but smaller sized changes.
