Extra income from credit card rewards

I started paying pretty close attention to our GI-qualified income late last year. And thus I can say that this month is already shaping up to be a bit unusual as we’ve had cash deposits totaling over $300 as a result of two credit card rewards programs. Here’s the story so far.

February, 2009 survey of 6-month CD rates

It is time to again spend 15 minutes surveying 6-month CD rates to figure out where to create the CD representing the 5th month of our 6-month emergency fund CD ladder. We try to target a CD anniversary date of the 25th of the month so I need to do the research a few days in advance of that.

ING drops OSA interest rates again!

I just got an e-mail indicating that ING Direct has lowered the yield on their Orange Savings Account by about a third of a percent to 1.85% APY. Two shocking things about this to me. First, this is the fourth rate drop since late December, 2008 when the yield was 2.75% APY. And second, this is the lowest rate ING Direct has given since 2001!

TradeKing does not provide API access

I’ve had a brief e-mail conversation with the customer support team over at TradeKing. I can now confirm that they do not offer any API access for data downloads or trading instruction uploads.
